I've been working on scale mail projects for a future cosplay and making more autoMaytons of course!
"Squito" short for mosquito is my newest creature. Using a key, clock parts, hardware and castoffs from a laser printer, I built the creature originally intending it to be a bird. But it became what it wanted to which is a mosquito-esque being. I'm still playing with the mechanism and may add more to this vista. Sometimes you gotta play a while before it truly sits right!
Amunet is the second in a series of owl gods. This is a version of the Egyptian owl god. The vista has a bright blue sky, yellow sunshine, palm trees, and other oddities in the sky. She is made from watch parts, laser cutting cast-offs, the pyramid and trees are also from laser cutting cast-offs, with clock parts in the sky that spin. I always try to put a fidget in each autoMayton now. Apparently, I was a fidgety kid! Her mech is smooth and hypnotizing.
Pepper the Burrowing owl is made from a pepper grinder. The painted face is based upon burrowing owls in West Texas. Turn the knob, and Pepper moves her head back and forth. Made from wood cast-offs, clock parts, and laser cutting cast-offs. This is a charming little piece that is definitely different than my other mechs. I have more wooden salt and pepper shakers to make a series of these.
Clockwork owl has one of the my favorite movements called a double flap. She is made from clock and watch parts with paper wings covered in aluminum tape. These wings are based upon actual owl wings and have been adapted for several different autoMaytons such as Amunet.
